Tammy Duckworth and Bryan Bowlsbey – Together Since 1993
Ladda Tammy Duckworth is an American politician, retired Lieutenant Colonel of the National Guard, and current United States Senator. Since 2017, she’s been doing a great job representing Illinois in the Senate. She served her term from 2013 to 2017.
Bryan and Duckworth had a rocky start when they first met at an ROTC program at George Washington University. Duckworth’s legs were amputated after being wounded while Bowlsbey stood right by her side during surgery. Bowlsbey became a major in the Army National Guard, and Tammy became a helicopter pilot in Iraq after serving in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard.
Besides being there for all the amazing moments in their lives together, Bowlsbey has also been Duckworth’s strength when life’s trials have tried to overwhelm her. It’s been close to three decades since they walked down the aisle. It is clear that they share a deep connection- one that has mirrored an incredible bond. They also share two kids who add the perfect amount of joy.
