The 2018 Federation Internationale de Football Association or FIFA World Cup officially began and the entire world is definitely looking forward to watching it. This year, it is held in Russia from the 14th of June until the 15th of July.
This is such a historical even since for the very first time, a country from Eastern Europe will host the World Cup since Russia was given the hosting rights back in 2010. This is also the very first time that the World Cup is held on two continents since there will be two different stadiums.
This particular World Cup is also known as the most expensive FIFA World Cup ever with an estimated cost of $14.2 billion. The teams and players of the participating countries also had to somewhat promote this year’s World Cup in different ways they can, just like how England’s striker Jamie Vardy took some time off of practice by trying to be a cowboy on a late night show.
Get behind us, America – or we'll make you keep @JKCorden.#threelions https://t.co/t4hqAXuHCs

Leicester Cowboy
Unfortunately, the American team didn’t qualify for the World Cup, but this doesn’t mean that they can’t support other nation’s team. This has then led to striker Jamie Vardy of England, to encourage Americans to support England. Along with his teammates Harry Kane, Dele, Kyle Walker, Jesse Lingard, and Eric Dier, they all tried to do their own American twist when it comes to trying to persuade the American viewers to support England.
This was all made possible by their fellow Brit, comedian and host James Corden, in his show in the United States called the Late Late Show with James Corden. The 31-year-old striker surprised everyone when he graced everyone by his presence wearing a cowboy hat while doing the traditional dance, but this is not the most surprising part, when he opened his mouth and started talking with a Texan accent, everyone was shocked.
Who would’ve thought that a local Brit could take on a good Texan accent? The English striker simply said “Yee-ha! Howdy Partners, I’m Jamie Vardy, root for England!” and then he was cut-off by Corden asking if he is doing an American accent.
This then led to so many people, especially Americans, to be impressed by Vardy, whom they said didn’t just nail the Texan accent, but he also looked like someone who’s originally from Texas. People were definitely surprised by this hidden talent he has hence why it had gone viral.
England Preparations For World Cup
Of course, this short video that was featured on the Late Late Show was pre-recorded since the entire team is now in Russia for the FIFA World Cup. Before winning their first game against Tunisia, England’s national team manager Gareth Southgate revealed in an interview that England definitely wants to put on a show in Russia for this year’s World Cup, not just to keep on winning, but to make the audience all over the world happy as they watch.
South Gate didn’t exactly say what which place they are trying to go for or is expecting, but they are trying to be adventurous as to beating Nigeria and Acosta Rica. However, he explained how the team is not just there to win, but they are also there to enjoy each other’s company and bond as a team.
Aside from that, they are also there to represent their nation, share their talents together with their determination and passion for football. They want the people to have fun watching them since they pay so much money to watch the games, especially during the World Cup, so the least the teams could do is have a good game that is worth every penny.
Almost every team say that they are just in it to have fun and give people a good World Cup experience but they are not to win it. Southgate said that he has been asked so many times why almost every team is not exactly aiming for the win, he simply said that the World Cup may be a tournament but it is also a chance for nations to come together and celebrate watching a good football match that they will remember for a long time. And because of that, his team are motivated to become better and show the world what they got.
