Bill De Blasio and Chirlane McCray – Together Since 1994
When he was the mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio announced his candidacy for the Democratic presidential nomination. In 2021, he also hinted at the possibility of bringing the nation’s first-ever Black First Lady, Chirlane McCray, as the current First Lady of New York.
McCray made a reputation for herself as an editor, writer, and poet who worked for Redbook magazine. Her early years were spent in Springfield located in Massachusetts. In 1991, she met Bill de Blasio, who was serving in the Dinkins administration at the time.
McCray was dressed in attire that was inspired by the Western African culture and a nose ring at the time and approached De Blasio, whom she considered hilarious and clever. It was true love for De Blasio at the first sight itself. Three years later, they went down the aisle in Prospect Park. The couple now has two children and is having a wonderful time together.
